At the entrance to Bursztynowy Kompas Kindergarten, a small lion named Hewelion greets preschoolers and visitors to Polsat Plus Arena Gdańsk. Hewelion is the mascot of the Gdańsk Lions project, an initiative conducted by the Gdańsk Tourist Organization in cooperation with the City of Gdańsk and other partners.
Lions located in various parts of the city mark the Gdańsk Lions tourist trail, recommending places in Gdańsk worth visiting. The program includes a free iLEO app that allows lions to “narrate” the story of Gdańsk and specific places and objects. Equipped with “beacon” transmitters, the app sends notifications to users’ phones when near a lion statue, providing an interactive and educational experience about the tales each lion represents.
